Video Editing Practice Reflection

This week my class started learning how to use Adobe Premier Pro and at first, I must admit that at first I was quite confused about how to use the controls on my screen and edit my timeline. It all seemed like a lot when I first opened the software but after watching a couple of tutorial videos and attempting to follow along, I was able to get an idea of the basics of Adobe Premier.

When I started creating my video I had an idea of what I wanted to for about the first 20 seconds of my video which was using the interview of Zach with some b-roll to set the focus of my clip (Pineapple Whip) and the setting (his shop). After I had put that part of my video together I was a bit lost on what I wanted to add next so I skimmed through the other clips and decided I would use the interview of the woman since her mood and laugh made her interview my favorite.

I realized that the transition in-between the interviews was quite awkward so I added another clip in-between to slow down my video in terms of pace. I also added a b-roll that went with what the woman was speaking about. Then I put together some clips of different steps of giving the customer there pineapple cool whip and a clip of a customer receiving it. Lastly, I put a clip of the girls interview describing the pineapple cool whip and a clip of the lovely setting.

During this process I struggled a bit with the editing and I feel like my video could’ve been a lot smoother so I hope to improve on my editing in the future. On the other hand, through this process I learnt the basics of Adobe Premier so I feel like I have a good foundation of skills to build off of and I cant wait to learn more as I begin to work on my portfolio project.
